Efficient Light Emitting Devices Utilizing CdSe ( ZnS ) Quantum Dots in Organic Host Matrices

چکیده
We demonstrate efficient electroluminescence from thin film structures containing core-shell CdSe(ZnS) quantum dots dispersed in molecular organic host materials. In the most efficient devices, excitons are created on the quantum dot sites via energy transfer from organic host molecules, and direct charge injection into the quantum dots is minimized. For quantum dots with core diameter 38 A, the electroluminescence spectra peak at 562nm and have full width at half maximum as narrow as 32nm. Saturated color devices have external quantum efficiencies as high as 0.61% at the current density of 7mA/cm . At 125mA/cm 2, the device luminance is 1900cd/m 2, which corresponds to a luminescence efficiency of 1.5 cd/A. The yield over hundreds of devices is greater than 90%, indicating a robust material system. Thesis Supervisor: Vladimir Bulovic Title: Professor of Electrical Engineering

Inorganic Quantum Dots in Organic Host Matrices for Efficient LEDs
Much effort has been devoted to improving the performance of Organic Light Emitting Devices (OLEDs) by increasing their efficiency, narrowing or broadening their emission spectra, or polarizing their emission. In this work we examine the benefits of incorporating other material systems within organic host matrices to generate efficient hybrid organic/inorganic LEDs of saturated color. Specifica...

Here we report CdSe nanoplatelets that are incorporated into color-converting CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals for InGaN/GaN light-emitting diodes. The critical role of CdSe nanoplatelets as an exciton donor for the color conversion was experimentally investigated. The power conversion efficiency of the hybrid light-emitting diode was found to increase by 23% with the incorporation of the CdSe nanoplatele...

Herein, using the light emitting component as the inner shell, we construct an advanced quantum-dot-quantum-well structure, ZnCdS/CdSe/CdZnSeS/ZnS, and use it for the fabrication of a light-emitting-diode. In comparison with the device containing conventional structured quantum dots, CdSe/CdZnSeS/ZnS, the advanced device possesses a superior performance in aspects of luminance, current efficien...
متن کاملEfficient exciton generation in atomic passivated CdSe/ZnS quantum dots light-emitting devices
We demonstrate the first-ever surface modification of green CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) using bromide anions (Br-) in cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The Br- ions reduced the interparticle spacing between the QDs and induced an effective charge balance in QD light-emitting devices (QLEDs). The fabricated QLEDs exhibited efficient charge injection because of the reduced emission quenchin...
